Leaving A Legacy Through Mentoring

Today I had the pleasure of catching up with Kerry Chickarovski, who was leader of the NSW Liberal Party during the 1990s.  When I first met her, she was Minister for Industrial Relations and Employment and Minister for The Status of Women and had stopped in for morning tea with participants of the mentoring program I was facilitating at the NSW Premier’s Department.

Despite a change of government just after the program started and the “new broom” attitude typical of all new governments, the mentoring program was seen as having merit and continued. One of the most satisfying feedback comments I’ve ever received was from a participant in that program, who said that attending the mentoring and career development workshops was so positive that it was “like the eye of the hurricane” during a time of tumultuous change.

The results of that mentoring program sowed the seeds of many others in other NSW agencies and I was very proud to be part of so many of them. Today, Ms Chickarovski was pleased to learn that her team had left an ongoing legacy through mentoring.

    Hello,
Is it possible to mentor someone who concern about his or legacy ? In other words, mentor
to those who are seeking direction concerning their legacy .
    Thank you
    Michael
