Workshop - Making Mentoring Work

Workshop - Designing Mentoring Programs

Overview: Mentoring programs to attract, retain and develop employees are popular. The key to a successful mentoring program is planning and design. In this workshop the critical elements of program design will be reviewed. Strategies for matching mentoring partners and facilitating the establishment of effective relationships will be discussed.

Objectives: Participants will leave the workshop with a framework for their own in-house mentoring program. During the workshop they will have the opportunity to:

  • Determine realistic objectives for a mentoring program;
  • Identify components of a mentoring program;
  • Discuss mentor matching process for their organisation;
  • Consider evaluation techniques; and
  • Draft a timeline for a mentoring program.

Workshop - Getting the Most Out of Mentoring

Overview: This is a one-day interactive workshop for prospective or paired mentors and mentorees. Participants will gain clarity and focus on the way to proceed with a mentoring relationship. As well as providing practical information, experiential exercises will be used to develop understanding.

Aims of the Workshop:

 

  • Help mentorees and mentors understand their role;
  • Equip participants with essential mentoring skills that will support the achievement of personal and professional goals; and
  • Enable participants to initiate effective mentoring relationships.

Workshop - Mentoring Action Plan (MAP)

Using Mind-Mapping and Visual Art to Create a Mentoring Action Plan

When mentoring partners get together they need to quickly initiate a productive relationship. The MAP Workshop process is fun and easy, yet powerful. It is a way to tap into information that might otherwise be unspoken and goals that might go unrecognised.

This is a hands-on workshop. Participants will work in pairs on real goals and issues, and

  • Use pictures, drawings and creative techniques to identify goals
  • Introduce Force-Field Analysis as a method of clarifying goals
  • Develop a goal map to outline action an plan for a mentoring relationship

Workshop - The Mentoring Conversation

People readily accept the concept of mentoring and appreciate it’s potential value. However, without a structure or practical guide they may be unsure what is expected of them and what to do. The Mentoring Conversation gives a simple four-step process that enables mentoring partners to develop a productive relationship.

Organisations expect a return on the investment in mentoring. Being able to provide a structure that supports yet does not stifle mentoring relationship increases the effectiveness of mentoring

This interactive workshop:

  • Introduces a practical model of mentoring;
  • Describes a mentoring process that can be used for decision making, problem solving and setting and achieving goals; and
